Buffalo Kokuyo’s 4-port USB 3.0

Buffalo Kokuyo has just released their first 4 port USB 3.0 hub, the BSH4A03U3. The device is now available in either black or white and supports Windows XP, Vista and 7 as well as OSX 10.4 according to Buffalo.

Buffalo USB 3.0 four port hub is backwards compatible with USB 1.1 and USB 2.0, with a theoretical data transfer speed of up to 5Gbps for 3.0 and can operate as either a bus powered or self powered hub.

The hub will be available to purchase in Japan this coming March for $88, with the details of the worldwide availability expected to be released by Buffalo Kokuyo shortly after.

Buffalo have created a USB 3.0 express card that is guaranteeing of transferring data at up to 5Gbps.Though there’s no word yet whether if this is an ExpressCard 1.0 or 2.0. The difference is that with the 2.0, the guaranteed 5Gbps is possible. While the1.0 will only get you up to 2.5 Gbps.

The Buffalo USB 3.0 Express Card comes with two USB 3.0 ports, and it looks like this one doesn’t require an additional power adapter like the StarTech version.

Details on the exact pricing or availability of the Buffalo USB 3.0 Express Card still have yet to be released. But do expect it to retail for around £35 to £57.
