Lenovo’s 700ds laptop has just got an upgrade with the new Lenovo ThinkPad W701ds. The new Lenovo ThinkPad W701ds now features an Intel Core i7-920 Extreme processor and Nvidia’s Quadro FX 3800M graphics.

The ThinkPad W701ds also boasts of up to 16 GB of DDR3 RAM memory and 500 GB of hard disk space. Its 17-inch primary display has a resolution of 1920 x 1200, while its 10.6 inch secondary WXGA display has a resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels. The secondary display is stored behind the main display and can slide out to reveal extra desktop space for multiple applications.

Lenovo has launched its first-ever smartbook: the Skylight. The new smartbook is not the only first for the company; it is also industry’s first ARM-based, Qualcomm smartbook.

The Lenovo Skylight is powered with a 1 GHz processor. It also features a 10.1 inch display with 1,280 x 720 resolution, a customized version of Linux, a total of 20GB flash storage, 2GB of cloud storage, an 8GB miniSD card, twin USB ports, 1.3 megapixel camera, WiFi and a battery capable of humming along for ten hours on a full charge.

Lenovo Combines HDD and SSD in IdeaPad Y460 & Y560

Lenovo is planning to offer their IdeaPad Y460 and Y560 equipped with a cross between HDD and SSD.

The idea behind this RapidDrive technology is that you can have a 32GB or 64 GB PCI-E SSD installed alongside an up to 500 GB HDD. The two drives will then effectively be combined into one.

According to Lenovo, the RapidDrive implements amore automatic algorithm to dynamically pool and manage the hybrid drive, giving up to 66 percent increase in Windows 7 boot speed as well as everyday performance.

The RapidDrive will be implemented on IdeaPad Y460 and Y560 this coming March.

Lenovo is just bombarding us with its numerous new releases this new year. Another product of their beautiful minds is the IdeaPad U1 Hybrid laptop. What’s so special with this one, you say? It’s just that this 11.6-inch laptop comes with a retractable multitouch screen.

Along with the ThinkPad Edge, Lenovo is also launching their newest ultraportable notebook: the ThinkPad X100e.

The ThinkPad X100e comes with eleven and a half inches of HD display screen, a full-sized keyboard, a TrackPoint and multitouch touchpad a built-in web camera, 802.11n WiFi, Gigabit Ethernet, and a choice to add in either Bluetooth or WWAN.

The ThinkPad X100e powerhouse can be either of the following choices: an AMD Athlon Neo processor, Athlon Neo X2 processor or a Turion X2 processor.

The Lenovo ThinkPad X100e will also be available come January 5 with prices starting from $499.

A new notebook has been added to the ThinkPad range of Lenovo: the Lenovo ThinkPad Edge.

The ThinkPad Edge boasts a thin design and a 13.3 inch widescreen LCd display. Along with that, it also comes with a battery with up to seven hours of usage, a built-in 802.11b/g/n WiFi, Ethernet, Bluetooth and WiMax.

The ThinkPad Edge is powered with either the AMD Athlon Neo X2 or the AMD Turion X2 dual processors, or a choice of Intel Core 2 Due porcessors. For storage, you can also opt for the 250 GB or 500 GB.

The Lenovo ThinkPad Edge Notebook will be on sale starting January 5th.

The first 12-inch netbook from Lenovo will be riding the surfs to Australia next month, just in time for the Christmas shopping. The Australia-bound IdeaPad S12 will come with Windows 7 Home Premium pre-installed with it.

The S12 will run with a 1.6GHz Intel Atom N270 processor and an Intel GMA 950 integrated graphics card, and also supports 1080p HD video. The 6-cell li-ion battery can stretch for up to six hours of mobile time. The S12 also has 3 USB ports, media card reader, ExpressCard slot, headphone and microphone jacks, VGA out, Ethernet, and Kensington lock slot.

Last year Lenovo tried to rock the business notebook market by releasing the SMB-oriented ThinkPad SL Series notebooks. These budget notebooks has the build quality, keyboard, and trackpoint that Thinkpad are famous for, but with bargain prices and stylish designs.

Now there is another SL in town, the ThinkPad SL510 is the new 15-inch member of the line and prices start at $529. The new Thinkpad has a few major changes done to it such as a lighter chassis and a 16:9 screen. The unit is a bit bulky and has too much processing speed,hence increasing the price.
