Gateway updates its fast, Windows Vista-based, Intel Core 2 Quad-powered slim tower. Now the newer versions of the desktop get Windows 7. One model, the SX2840-01, not only gets the latest operating system, but Intel’s new mainstream Core i3 quad-core chip as well.
Other specifications of the Gateway SX2840-01 include 6GB 1333MHz DDR3 SDRAM, 64MB (shared) Intel GMA X4500 integrated graphics chip, 1 TB of hard drive at 7200 rpm and a dual-layer DVD burner/optical drive.
In addition to the HDMI video output, the Gateway also offers a fairly flexible set of connectivity options inside and out. The desktop has five USB 2.0 ports on the front, along with a media card reader, audio jacks, and a mini FireWire input. At the back, four more USB 2.0 ports, an Ethernet jack, an eSATA port, a set of 7.1 audio inputs, an optical S/PDIF audio input, and a VGA video out are integrated.
The Gateway 64MB SX2840-01 desktop retails for $560.
