Gateway's NV5897u

In today’s market, a perfectly usable laptop can be bought for a song, especially if the laptop you want to buy is in the midrange model. Due to this trend, Gateway’s NV5897u debuts as yet another midsize, decently spec’d Core 2 Duo laptop in a frame that’s not too bulky, but certainly won’t be confused for a Netbook.

Since the Gateway – Acer merger, Gateway is only surviving as a familiar brand that provides variations on Acer’s offerings. In the case of the NV5807u, the cost of the product may well be worth its price. At $599, it is priced to really take a chunk of buyers who are considering a Nebook, which are priced anywhere from from $300-$500 these days.

If you are looking for a larger screen, true multitasking, and good all-around performance are what you’re after, then it’s hard to beat the Gateway NV5807u in terms of bang for your buck.
