Samsung R40 notebook

Samsung’s R40 is not particularly new, but it stands out as one of the coolest among the Korean’s brand of notebooks.

The Samsung R40 is powered by a 1.66 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo T2300E processor and 1 GB of RAM. The storage capacity of the hard drive is 80 GB. Meanwhile, the graphics is supported by ATI Mobility Radeon Xpress 200M with 128 MB of video memory.

This model also features a number of standard ports including 4 USB ports, a TV out, a VGA port, an Ethernet port, a modem port, a Kensington lock slot, a 6-in-1 memory card reader slot and the headphones and microphone jacks. Major set back for this unit though is the absence of a webcam, integrated Bluetooth, FireWire and an HDMI port. As for the display, the 15.4 inch widescreen on this Samsung notebook goes with a maximum resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels.

The six cell battery of the R40 can provide up to three hours of performance at almost high settings. The unit comes also pre-installed with Windows XP Professional operating system, as well as numerous “bloatware” such Norton AntiVirus, the FirstWare Pro, Update Plus, AVS Viewer and Adobe Reader.
